A short collection of lessons learned from statewide water safety coalitions
Learning from others…
As a multi-sectoral group of stakeholders in California comes together to launch a statewide water safety coalition, we thought it would be helpful to learn from those who have been down this path before. In California, we are lucky to have several local drowning prevention coalitions and a track record for statewide collaboration on water safety issues. However, for this project, we intentionally sought to look outside our state’s borders to synthesize some important lessons and gather advice from water safety leaders who have been working on a state level for several years. We even threw in some international perspective from our friends in Canada and the UK. These interviews on collaboration efforts were coordinated and conducted by William Koon and Tizzy Bennet in October of 2021.
